ShadowrocketUser Guide and FAQ

A rule-based proxy client for iPhone / iPad. First verify the official App Store listing and the one-time purchase, then import your existing information, configure rule-based routing, and test the connection.

HOME / CONFIG / SETTINGS

Start with the setting you’re checking

First distinguish the server, routing mode, and connection triggers, then adjust the relevant settings. The server determines where to connect; Global Routing determines how requests are handled; On Demand determines when a connection starts. Check each separately to narrow down the issue.

Check Config / Proxy / Direct

Global Routing determines how requests are handled. Go to Home → Global Routing: Config applies the rules in the currently enabled configuration, Proxy sends requests through the proxy path, and Direct uses a direct connection. To route traffic by domain or address, select Config, then check the enabled file and rule order in Config. Rules are generally matched from top to bottom; the first matching rule determines the policy. Note the original setting before switching modes. If a page loads in Direct, that only confirms basic network connectivity—it does not prove the server is working.

Connectivity Test is a starting point, not a final verdict. Run the test for the selected server from Home, then verify access with an actual webpage. Results depend on the test method, network conditions, and how the server responds. A reported value does not mean every request will succeed; a failed test should also be assessed alongside real-world access and connection records.

APP STORE / DEVICES

Check availability by device

Shadowrocket is available exclusively on the App Store. Check your purchase history and the App Store product page, then confirm device compatibility. System requirements and general purchase eligibility are as listed on the App Store page.

Shadowrocket is also available on the Mac and Apple TV App Store. Compatibility, system requirements, and general purchase eligibility are as listed on the App Store page.

FIRST CONNECTION

First connection: three checks

Have your own server details or subscription URL ready before you begin. Start with the simplest working setup, then add rules and automatic connection conditions one at a time. Changing one variable at a time makes failures easier to diagnose.

Add a server or subscription

Go to Home → Add Server. For a single server, choose the Type that matches the provided details and fill in the fields; for an existing subscription, choose Subscribe. Save, return to the SERVER list, and check that the entry appears, has a recognizable name, and includes all required parameters.

A successful import only means the client read the information; it doesn’t confirm that the remote server is available. Don’t manually recreate and repeatedly import the same entries. Keep one clearly identified test entry to avoid selecting the wrong server later.

Choose Global Routing

Go back to Home → Global Routing and choose Config, Proxy, or Direct based on your needs. For rule-based routing, select Config and confirm which file is enabled in Config. To test the proxy path temporarily, use Proxy as a comparison and note the original mode.

Choosing a mode and choosing a server are separate steps. If nothing changes after switching, first check the selected server and mode, then see whether the rules match. Don’t immediately change a wide range of settings.

Turn on the connection and test access

On Home, select a server for testing and turn on the connection switch. Follow the system prompt to approve the VPN configuration. Then run Connectivity Test and visit a known working webpage, comparing the connection records with the actual result.

If the switch is on but access fails, check the basic network, server details, Global Routing, DNS, and rules in that order. Temporarily turn off On Demand to prevent automatic triggers from interfering with manual tests.

PRODUCT VERIFICATION

Purchase verification and what the purchase covers

Shadowrocket Q&A — Official Manual is the official website and manual for Shadowrocket. Before purchasing, use the App Store product page to verify the app: a similar name is not enough. Check the developer, official icon, and app ID as well.

Three details to verify

Check the icon, developer, and app ID together

Open the product page and compare its app icon with the official icon shown here, then check the developer name, Shadow Launch Technology Limited. The address contains id932747118, which corresponds to app ID 932747118. Don’t rely only on an abbreviated name or a similar-looking icon in search results.

What does the one-time purchase include?

The purchase covers the right to use the client. Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. The U.S. storefront reference price is $2.99; other storefronts show local currency, and the final amount is as listed on the App Store page. Before purchasing, review the product description, compatibility, and purchase information to make sure the app fits your device and needs.

The client purchase does not include a proxy service. After installation, you still need to import your own server details or subscription URL. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend servers or subscriptions; the guides cover importing, configuring, and testing within the client. Check your App Store purchase history and server service status separately.

How can I use the purchase on two devices?

On iPhone and iPad, use the original purchasing account to check the download status in App Store purchases or on the same product page. Whether a purchase can be used on both devices is as indicated on the App Store page. Restoring the app purchase does not necessarily restore local configurations or connection permissions.

Keep necessary configurations before changing devices or reinstalling. After restoring, check the server, Config file, and current routing mode, and follow the device prompts for VPN configuration permissions. Check the product page and system purchase settings to see whether Family Sharing applies; don’t assume it does based on how it works on another device.

Can’t find the app in the store?

Open the product page from this site’s purchase verification guide, then check your current App Store account’s region, device compatibility, and any system prompts. Search results may vary with storefront and device. Whether the page appears, whether you can make a purchase, and whether you already have a purchase record are three separate things to verify.

For account region questions, follow the current guidance from your Apple Account and the App Store. First check account requirements such as balance and subscriptions, along with your original purchase history. Changing account settings won’t fix a connection issue: App Store availability and server availability in the client are separate matters.

Where can I check for updates and setting changes?

App updates are delivered through the App Store. Check the automatic update option in your system’s App Store settings, and review release notes on the product page. System requirements are as listed on the App Store page. This manual is organized by features and interface paths, rather than using a fixed version number as a substitute for current information.

Keep a working configuration before updating. After the update, check the current server, Global Routing, and Config before resuming normal use. If an option has moved, look for it by function under Home, Config, or Settings instead of using an old screenshot to overwrite settings that already work.
